By registering an account, accessing, or using TutorHub SG, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal data as described in this Policy.
1. Personal Data We Collect
We collect information that identifies, relates to, or could reasonably be linked to you. The types of personal data we collect depend on whether you register as a Tutor or as a Parent/Student:
1.1 For Tutors
- Identity Data: Full name, date of birth, gender, nationality or residency status.
- Contact Data: Email address, mobile telephone number, postal code.
- Professional Data: Profile photo, academic transcripts, degree certificates, teaching credentials, school affiliations, subject specializations, tutoring history, and lesson availability.
- Financial Data: Bank account or Stripe connection details for subscription renewals or fee pay-outs.
- Activity Data: Lesson logs, homework remarks, student progress reports, and feedback ratings.
1.2 For Parents and Students
- Identity Data: Parent's full name, student's full name, and student's grade/level.
- Contact Data: Email address, mobile telephone number, general location or address.
- Request Data: Subject requirements, budget ranges, preferred lesson timings, learning difficulties or educational goals.
- Feedback Data: Reviews, comments, ratings, and testimonials left for tutors.
2. Purpose of Collection, Use, and Disclosure
We collect and process your personal data for the following business and operational purposes:
- Account Management: To verify your identity, set up and maintain your user account, and configure user dashboards.
- Matching Services: To recommend and match suitable tutors with parents and students based on subject, level, budget, and location.
- Communication: To facilitate direct messaging between parents/students and tutors, send notification alerts, and deliver platform updates.
- Verification & Trust: To verify tutor certificates and qualifications, display verification badges, and moderate review histories.
- Payment Processing: To manage premium listing subscriptions, facilitate billing, and check billing history.
- Platform Improvements: To monitor user behavior, debug errors, conduct analytics, and enhance UI/UX workflows.
- Compliance & Safety: To enforce our Terms, investigate fraud or misrepresentation, and comply with legal or regulatory audits.
3. Public Profile Information & Data Sharing
Tutors acknowledge and agree that certain profile information will be displayed publicly on the Platform to allow parents and students to discover and assess them. This public information includes: full name (or display name), profile photo, teaching experience, general teaching location (area, not specific address), academic qualifications, hourly rates, availability calendar, and student reviews. Tutor credentials/certificates are verified by the Platform and are shared as watermarked, view-only copies to prevent unauthorized downloading or distribution.
4. Data Security & Storage Standards
TutorHub SG implements reasonable technical, administrative, and physical security measures to safeguard your personal data against unauthorized access, collection, use, disclosure, copying, modification, or disposal. All data is stored on secure cloud servers, and payment transactions are handled through PCI-compliant payment processors (such as Stripe). While we strive to use state-of-the-art protections, you acknowledge that no transmission of data over the internet or cloud storage can be guaranteed 100% secure.
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal data only for as long as it is necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, or as required or permitted by Singapore law. Personal data that is no longer required for business or legal purposes will be securely deleted, destroyed, or anonymized. In accordance with our Recording Policy, all session recording files are permanently and automatically deleted 60 days after the lesson date.
6. Access and Correction of Personal Data
You have the right to request access to a copy of the personal data we hold about you, or information about how we have used or disclosed your data. You also have the right to request corrections to any errors or omissions in your personal data. You can manage and update most of your personal data directly through your profile settings. 7. Data Deletion & Consent Withdrawal
You may request to delete your account or withdraw your consent to the collection, use, or disclosure of your personal data. Please note that if you withdraw your consent or request account deletion, we may not be able to continue providing our Platform services to you. Upon receiving an account deletion request, we will delete your profile data, subject to any legal records we are required to retain (such as invoice records for tax audits).
